Identify 5-Star Landscaping Clients
Dear Landscape Contractor: Have you gotten frustrated by writing estimates for lawn and landscape projects that NEVER get built?
You know it takes serious time, energy and effort to write estimates, create proposals and bid jobs. But what would your day look like if you could instantly identify those ideal prospects who are going to buy?
First, each day will be more productive. Next, each day will be more fun. Third, each day will be more profitable.
But how can you identify the very best, most-likely to buy lawn and landscape prospects?
Here’s how we identify those 5-star prospects. We think this can help you meet your goal of creating and keeping profitable customers year after year.
5-Star Landscape Clients Begin as 5-Star Prospects
A five star prospect can be described as your ideal client. We want to be able to recognize these people as we communicate with them. Here’s how we can identify them.
- They are willing to engage in a dialogue. Which means, they will respond to our emails, phone calls, texts, letters, etc.
- They are friendly and cooperative. They treat us with respect as we treat them with respect. If they are harsh, use foul language and seem hard to deal with, they are probably not our five star prospect…
- They know what they want. Our five star prospects have already completed some level of research when they engage with us. We need to help clarify exactly what they want and guide them through the lawn and landscape options that they are unaware of.
- They know when they want it. Every conversation about lawn and landscaping services must include the question “when do you need…?” When someone has a time frame already etched out, they are way more compelled to do business than someone who just says “not sure”, “no hurry” or “some years in the future”.
- They want YOU to help them. When a prospect meets the above 4 requirements, you should feel confident to put forth extraordinary effort to help them at a level that they would seldom see with another landscaping business.
Perform Like A 5-Star Landscaper!
Not all prospects are equal. We recommend you evaluate your prospects as they engage with you. Don’t waste your time writing estimates or producing quotes without considering the top 4 requirements listed above. If they don’t meet your profile of a 5-star prospect, we suggest you kindly move on and don’t waste your time.
But when they do fit the behavior of a 5-star prospect, you perform like a 5-star landscaper.
This means that you give them the information that they request in a timely manner. Then, you provide extraordinary follow ups by engaging in delivery of content/quotes through digital, print, and personalized conversation. Then surprise them with useful gifts, cool tools and valuable information.
Here’s an example of how you can perform like a 5-star landscaper when you have a 5-star prospect.
Every time you provide an estimate (quote, bid, proposal), you also give that prospect a small gift. A rain gauge with your company logo, along with detailed instructions of how to use it to improve results in the landscape, is a powerful little gift that demonstrates you are serious about helping their landscape be a success.
The addition of a small gift as part of your proposal delivery may be the one thing that helps you win more jobs WITHOUT having to be the low bidder.
Do you provide a small gift with each proposal or estimate you provide? If you don’t, here’s one way you can help 5-star prospects turn into 5-star clients.
Seriously, give this a try. Let me hear from you on how it works.
