If you have ever been frustrated with employees, you’re going to love this story. This story started way back in 1934.  I first heard this story in 2004 and it’s been stuck in my mind ever since.

It’s better to build boys than mend men.

That’s the advice I got from Truett Cathy, founder of Chick-Fil-A.

Truett explained in his book titled, It’s Better to Build Boys than Mend Men, how his life was positively impacted by the mentorship he received from his 5th grade Sunday school teacher.

The profound impact this one man had on Truett in his youth was never forgotten. That’s one reason Truett taught 5th grade Sunday school at Jonesborough Baptist Church for more than 50 years… even after he had built a restaurant empire worth an estimated 6.3 billion dollars.

I believe with all my heart that entrepreneurs like you and I have an opportunity to make a lasting and positive influence on the lives of men and women of all ages.  Especially our employees.

Your influence starts with the people who work inside your company. It extends to the customers you serve. You share your influence with the vendors and suppliers you work with. And slowly but surely, your influence makes an impact on your community.

Beautiful landscapes are something that everyone can enjoy. Do you agree?

If you ever feel like your company needs to “Build a Better Lawn & Landscape Team“…

I encourage you to embrace the weekly wealth habit of “training your team”.

I know many of you already offer training. And you are rewarded with productive, loyal and trust worthy employees. Many of us can improve on this commitment. I’m convinced of it.

I’ve listened to far too many complaints about “employees, labor or help” over the past couple of years. Frustration with employees is a clear sign you have an opportunity to “build a better lawn and landscape team”.

We believe super-star employees are rarely “found”.

Most are built…over time…using repetitive adult education techniques on topics important to your company and your customers. And as the market for employees gets tighter, we must come to realize we will have to hire people that need basic, entry-level training.

So, if you’ve ever felt stuck “building a better lawn and landscape team”, I’d like to invite you to watch the webinar replay on this subject.

Building a team of lawn and landscape super-stars is not easy.

But following a step-by-step training plan can be very easy.

You should invest 60-90 minutes and learn more on this subject. It’s a wealth habit that will serve you well. The webinar replay is found here.

Truett Cathy understood how much easier “building” is, when compared to “mending”. I hope you’ll discover how you can use these same techniques in your business.

With respect,

Tony Bass, founder
